Drink ‘n’ Draw
Drink ‘n’ Draw is the monthly gathering of comic artists and fans in Manchester. This month for Not Part Of Festival Adam Caldwell, the event organiser and author of Blood Blokes, extended this meeting to include talks by industry professionals including; Andy Diggle, Leah Moore (daughter
of Alan), and her writing partner John Reppion. The event which takes places in the back room of Sand Bar was jam packed with new audience members eager to ask questions and get involved. Everybody involved with the event was approachable and on a quest to please making sure that there was enough free pizza to go around.
Not just for fans of comics, but those interested in drawing the event allows you to browse little known work and even sell your own; the copy of ‘Paper Science’ I was given was an excellent find, not content with that you get 10% off at the bar and can pick up comics for free with their ingenious ‘trade in’ scheme.
A great event for anyone who thinks they don’t have a local comic’s scene this special addition of the Drink ‘n’ Draw shows just how active the community is and wants to be. Though this was on Thursday the 30th you can usually join in by turning up at Sandbar on the last Sunday of the month.
