Summer is once again quickly approaching and there is no tradition quite as high in spirit as the Manchester Day Parade! Manchester Day has become a sensational annual event, in which residents and visitors alike take pride in celebrating, what is now considered, one of the most iconic cities in the world. On Sunday 10th June at 2pm, the brilliant Manchester Day Parade returns to the city's streets, this year sporting a theme worthy of appraisal, 'a celebration of heroic events', aptly titled 'The Sky's the Limit'. Manchester has always been home to heroes from all walks of life, including both men and women, who have been extremely successful through achieving in the the worlds of science and technology, music, culture and the arts, in industry, sport and the natural world. More than 90 community groups will creating their own artworks and floats coinciding with the chosen heroic theme.

The parade is a fantastic addition to the city's traditions, as it celebrates creativity and diversity, while bringing forth the opportunity for communities to get involved and unite in collective pride for their city. Last year saw a crowd of 45,000 strong and encouraged more than 2000 participants to march through the city engaging in lively music and dance, whilst dressed in bright colours and wondrous costumes, including space rockets, mythical creatures and music figures. This year promises much of the same and more, with renowned outdoor arts organization, Walk The Plank, to be involved alongside individuals, to create a magical and innovative spectacle.

So get yourself down to the city and bask in what is sure to be a magnificent Manchester Day with a winning parade, which will bring a tear to your eye and put a spring in your step, whether you're from Manchester or not!
