It's a sad farewell to Britain’s oldest woman who has died at 111 years old, just short of her 112th birthday. Greater Manchester born Eunice Bowman leaves 6 children, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Manchester could soon be following London and having an elected mayor. This idea is currently being discussed by the prime minister and government.  

We've had a royal visit from Prince Charles who has recently visited Manchester. Amongst other engagements he took a sneak preview of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra during their rehearsals.

Formula one team owner and multi millionaire Eddie Jordan made an appearance in Manchester on Tuesday. He was supporting his son (Zak), who is a key member of the Irish lacrosse squad for the current World Lacrosse Championships. Ireland are doing well at the moment with a chance of reaching the semi finals.
