Manchester’s very own Odd Bar scoops a PETA award for its delicious vegan food

Odd Bar

Eatery gains recognition for the quality and quantity of its meat-free offerings

Behind many of meat-eaters’ sporadic cravings for an old fashioned Full English fry up - whether induced by a ghastly hangover or by the simple state of being an Englishman - lies the inconvenient truth that it isn’t too good for us. It’s a traditional dish that makes mouths salivate but arteries wince, as the oil-soaked bacon and sausages hiss and squeak at the prospect of gunking up every ventricle in sight. There is clearly no shortage of alternatives however, because Manchester’s delightfully quirky Odd Bar has ranked in PETA’s top 10 vegan breakfast purveyors in the UK in recognition of its scrum-diddly-umptious vegan servings.

Odd Bar will also receive a letter of appreciation and a framed certificate in honour of its prestigious placement. PETA launched its countrywide search for the UK’s elite vegan brekkies to mark HGCA’s Farmhouse Breakfast Week, taking place until 28th January, which seeks to provide nutritional information about the importance of beginning one’s day with a healthy breakfast. Mancunians need not search yonder Odd Bar in their quest to find healthy breakfast nosh, especially in light of its glamorous award. Odd’s Full English Special can easily be replaced with a Veggietastic breakfast, which replaces the meat for a sweet potato pattie and a lush veggie sausage. One can even build one’s own bagel, with tomatoes, hash browns and mushrooms also on offer. Whilst meat may be difficult to give for the sternest of carnivores amongst us, Odd has proven it has all the sumptuous substitutes one could need. Heck, it certainly beats waiting for supermarket offers for Innocent smoothies!
