Ramsbottom Festival 2012

Friday 14th – Sunday 16th September 2012

The outskirts of Greater Manchester once again are host to the wondrous folk and indie music festival, Ramsbottom, which is making a proud return after the phenomenal success of last year's debut. From Friday 14th through 'til Sunday 16th September, recognised music-legends join forces with up and coming artists to bring you a lively mixture of cool indie beats and whimsical folk sounds. The festival promises to be a fun, family friendly festival, with a love of great music at it's core and something for all ages to enjoy.

Friday offers up the musical stylings of legendary Manchester band, Inspiral Carpets, who are to be accompanied by an act quickly growing in popularity, The Janice Graham Band, as they too hail from the city. While, Saturday brings the indie folk-pop vibe with the sounds of Admiral Fallow, The Leisure Society, Session A9, Roddy Woomble, while also gracing us with BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominees, Johnny Kearney and Lucy Farnell. However, Sunday's the day to watch out for, as exciting talent continues to fill the stage with Mercury Music Prize nominee, Seth Lakeman; Radio 2's playlist artist, Thea Gilmore; Manchester band, Beiderbeck, which is fronted by ex-corrie star, Rupert Hill; and electro-folk story tellers, Harp and a Monkey, with many more acts still to be announced!

Last year's success owes thanks for it's success to the Mancunian music lovers, who helped provide the buzzing atmosphere, alongside a diverse crowd, made up from seasoned festival-goers, various artists and music press, whose response to the event was also excellent. Ramsbottom 2012 has high hopes of recapturing last year's festival magic with an abundance of activities, including art and music workshops, storytelling, comedy acts, a funfair, real ale tents and even a silent disco!

Ramsbottom is a non-profit project managed by The Met, an arts charity and performance venue in Bury.
