Expertly written and directed by Grace O’Leary this is a modern tale of love found, love lost …and (possibly), love found again.

Patrick, convincingly played with working class realism by Nigel Travis, is a mechanic / car dealer who one day meets the woman who changes his life forever (bar one small rather important part). An aspiring criminal lawyer, she falls instantly in love with her “bit of rough” and this diametrically opposed couple just click…. and it shows. Zoe Thomas plays Annabel  with a swagger…  smart, attractive and with a sexuality that is obvious whenever the couple are together.

Patrick’s assistant, Billy, (who Daniel Street Brown plays with an intensity befitting his character’s history) is the tormented soul of the group. Using language Kevin Webster could only dream of, he berates his boss, his best mate Sean (played with expert comic timing by Paul Gilbin), but most of all himself for letting go the one true love in his life, his wife Ruby (who Marie Westcott plays beautifully).

The tension mounts throughout the performance culminating in a very loud, and very physical climax. And in the post climatic denouement , Ruby, whose words say one thing but whose eyes say another, meets with Billy to see whether there is indeed a future for them.

Great lines, great acting and what Corrie could be if they could swear and have a laugh.
